Birmingham 21
Project: Birmingham 21 Sculpture
Artist: Anu Patel
Location: Birmingham, UK
Our architectural metalwork division, m-tec, was honoured to contribute to the Birmingham 21 Memorial, a poignant tribute to the victims of the 1974 Birmingham pub bombings. Designed by artist Anu Patel, the installation comprises three 15ft trees, symbolising remembrance and unity. These trees stand in iroko wood planters, crafted from a combination of Corten steel and stainless steel, creating a striking contrast of textures and finishes. Each tree features seven intricately designed steel leaves, with the names and ages of the 21 victims laser-cut into their undersides. This delicate detailing ensures a lasting and deeply personal tribute, providing a space for reflection and remembrance.

Arches of Oman
Project: Arches of Oman
Artist: Giles Rayner
Location: Muscat, Oman
Our architectural metalwork division, m-tec, was commissioned to fabricate a striking 12-metre-high architectural stainless steel water feature, now a centerpiece in the private gardens adjacent to the Royal Opera House in Muscat, Oman. Designed by renowned sculptor Giles Rayner of GR Sculpture Ltd, the sculpture embodies a seamless blend of artistry and engineering. The Duplex stainless steel structure was meticulously fabricated and polished by m-tec’s expert engineers at their UK headquarters. The project took three and a half years from concept development to final installation, with rigorous quality control at every stage.

Meads Reach Stainless Steel Footbridge
Project: Meads Reach Bridge
Location: Bristol, UK
Meads Reach Bridge Temple Quay II, Bristol The Meads Reach Bridge was a joint project between m-tec, Niall McLaughlin Architects, Cyril Swett, Gleeds, Price & Myers and Dean & Dyball for Castlemore Securities to renovate Temple QUAY II in Bristol. m-tec fabricated the 55-metre, 75-tonne stainless steel pedestrian walkway in-house from 2205 duplex stainless steel. Its construction was made from eight sections which were delivered individually to the Bristol location.

Pooley Bridge – Stainless Steel Road Bridge
Project: Pooley Bridge
Location: Lake District
In collaboration with Knights Architects, Eric Wright Civil Engineering, and Cumbria County Council, this innovative three-layer stainless steel road bridge is the first of its kind in the UK. Spanning 40 feet across the River Eamont, the structure is constructed from 110 tonnes of 2205 stainless steel and concrete. Owing to the scale of the project, the structure was fabricated in four sections and required one of the largest cranes in Britain for installation. Its construction involved approximately 13,000 hours of skilled labour, and the bridge was officially opened to the public in spring 2020.
