Key Aspects of Coded Welding

Coded welding involves a range of procedures and tests that demonstrate a welder’s ability to perform to approved standards.

Welder approval tests are conducted under strict conditions to ensure competence. Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) define the exact process and parameters needed for each type of weld, ensuring repeatability across different jobs.

Quality is further assured through a combination of visual inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as ultrasonic and dye penetrant testing, and occasionally destructive tests to verify the weld’s mechanical strength.
