CODED WELDING

Coded Welding

At WEC Fabrication, we provide specialist coded welding services to support a wide range of industries, including oil & gas, nuclear, structural steelwork, and general metal fabrication. Our welders are fully qualified in multi-coded MIG, TIG and SUB-ARC techniques, with all welding procedures assessed and approved by PED-accredited bodies. We maintain an extensive in-house stock of materials including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and duplex in various grades, enabling fast response times and flexibility for time-sensitive projects.

Every weld is completed to exacting standards, with fabrications manufactured in line with ASME and BS EN specifications. This ensures full compliance with international codes and guarantees the structural integrity of each fabrication. Whether you require a one-off coded welding solution or ongoing support for large-scale fabrication, WEC Group offers the expertise and capacity to deliver.

CODED WELDING

CSWIP-Certified Excellence

At WEC Fabrication, quality begins with some of the most skilled welding professionals in the UK, including one of only a few CSWIP Master Welding Engineers in England supported by CSWIP-certified inspectors. This rare expertise ensures every weld meets internationally recognised standards and delivers the highest levels of oversight and quality assurance. We train and upskill our own welders, with every apprentice becoming a coded welder after their first year. With full in-house capability to test and certify our team, we can quickly achieve any client-required accreditation from advanced coding to bespoke procedures.

Documentation

We operate a dedicated document control team and hold all relevant industry-recognised quality accreditations. This section offers a structured overview of the key documents, procedures, and records that underpin our fabrication and quality assurance processes. Our capabilities include an extensive library of 600 welding codings, along with CTRs (Control Test Records), ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), and LTRs (Load Test Reports), ensuring full traceability and compliance.

Welding Codings

At WEC Fabrication, quality is driven from the top. Our team includes CSWIP Master Welding Engineers and CSWIP-certified inspectors who ensure every weld adheres to internationally recognised standards. Their expertise provides exceptional welding oversight and assurance across all projects.

With more than 600 unique welding codings across the group, we are equipped to support even the most complex technical requirements.

CODED WELDING

Uncompromising Quality Standards

Quality is at the heart of everything we do at WEC Fabrication. We work to recognised PED, ASME and BS EN standards, ensuring consistent quality and compliance across all sectors. Our certified coded welding services are backed by ISO 9001:2015 accreditation and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) approval, guaranteeing that all fabrication work meets strict international benchmarks.

OUR PEOPLE

Expert Coded Welders with Unrivalled Skills

At WEC Fabrication, our coded welders are highly skilled and fully qualified, with extensive experience in coded welding across a wide range of sectors. They are trained and supported by CSWIP-certified instructors, which is a qualification held by only a small number of professionals in the industry, and we are proud to have two of them here at WEC Group. We work to the highest industry standards, ensuring precision, strength, and reliability in every project. Our team is trusted to weld complex structures and materials that many others cannot achieve, setting WEC Fabrication apart as a leader in specialist welding.

Seam welding is a type of resistance welding where two overlapping sheets of metal are joined together using a rotating wheel electrode. This creates a continuous, leak-proof weld that is often used in applications such as tanks, drums, and automotive parts. At WEC Fabrication, our skilled team carries out seam welding as part of our specialist services, supported by our expertise in coded welding to ensure the highest quality standards.

Spot welding is a resistance welding process where heat is generated by passing an electrical current through two or more metal sheets held together under pressure. This creates small, strong welds at specific points. It is widely used in manufacturing industries. WEC Fabrication offers professional spot welding alongside our coded welding services, delivering durable and reliable welds to meet customer requirements.

Arc welding uses an electrical arc between an electrode and the base material to melt metals at the welding point. This process is versatile and can be used for a wide range of metals and thicknesses. At WEC Fabrication, our welders are fully trained by CSWIP Instructors and qualified in arc welding techniques, with coded welding certifications to guarantee precision, strength, and compliance with industry standards.

Resistance welding is a process where metals are joined by applying pressure and passing a strong current through the joint. The resistance to the electrical current generates heat, which melts the metal and forms a weld. Techniques such as seam welding and spot welding fall under this category. WEC Fabrication carries out resistance welding with the same high level of expertise that underpins our coded welding services.

Gas welding, often referred to as oxy-fuel welding, involves burning a mixture of oxygen and fuel gas (such as acetylene) to produce a flame hot enough to melt and join metals. While less common in modern heavy fabrication, it is still a useful technique for certain applications. At WEC Fabrication, we provide gas welding where required, ensuring that all work is carried out to the same high standards as our coded welding operations.
