Ground Support Platforms and Wing Trolley for Airbus A320 Production

Project Overview

WEC Group’s specialist Aerospace division was commissioned to manufacture and supply a total of 42 bespoke ground support platforms and a wing trolley for use in the assembly of Airbus A320 aircraft at the Airbus production facility in Hamburg, Germany.

This large-scale, multi-million-pound project was a critical component in supporting various stages of the aircraft build process, ensuring safety, accessibility, and efficiency for production teams working on the A320 line.

UK Manufacturing Excellence

All platforms and equipment were designed and manufactured in-house in the UK using mild steel, finished with a clean white paint system to meet Airbus’s specifications. The project spanned 18 months, with WEC Group’s experienced fabrication team delivering consistent quality and accuracy throughout each stage of production.

On-Site Installation in Hamburg

Following the successful completion of manufacturing, the full suite of platforms was carefully transported to Germany. WEC Group’s specialist steel erection team carried out the installation on-site in Hamburg, working in close coordination with Airbus teams to minimise disruption and ensure the platforms were fully integrated into the facility’s operational flow.
