Delivering Bespoke Fabrication on a Tight Deadline
In October 2023, WEC Group’s specialist Fabrication division in Darwen, Lancashire, successfully delivered a complex and large-scale Silence Control Exhaust Stack project for a key customer in the energy sector. The project was completed within a tight 16-week lead time, ensuring the equipment was delivered precisely on schedule to coincide with a planned shutdown of the customer’s site in Aberdeen.
Engineered for Performance and Reliability
Working closely to the client’s exact requirements, WEC’s team manufactured the exhaust stack from a combination of 321-grade perforated stainless steel and carbon steel. The solution was tailored to meet stringent performance and durability standards required for industrial noise and emissions control.
The final product was fabricated in 10 separate sections, each measuring approximately 4.2 metres in width and weighing over 5 tonnes. Once fully assembled, the complete structure was insulated with high-performance glass fibre to enhance thermal and acoustic performance.
Safe Delivery of Oversized Components
Due to the size and complexity of the finished stack, WEC arranged for a specialist convoy wagon to transport the 26-tonne assembly to site. The logistics were carefully planned to ensure safe handling and on-time arrival, with all work completed and delivered in line with the customer’s shutdown schedule.
