Trommel Mixing Drum

Project Overview

Project Overview
Fabricated in-house by our WEC Fabrication Division, this Trommel Mixing Drum for high fibre horse feeds is a great example of our capabilities. The drum is specially designed to gently and thoroughly combine through drum rotation ingredients to preserve their structural integrity and produce a visually attractive and consistent feed.

Fabrication Capabilities

The Trommel Mixing Drum was manufactured at our WEC Fabrication’s facility in Darwen using a combination of specialist machinery and highly skilled fabricators.

Our workshop is equipped to handle large and complex fabrications, including:

• Craneage capabilities of up to 40 tonnes
• Advanced robotic welding systems
• High-capacity plate rolling equipment
• Precision cutting and forming machinery

These capabilities allowed our team to fabricate the cylindrical drum sections with accuracy, ensuring alignment and high-quality weld integrity throughout the structure.

Welding and Assembly

The Trommel Mixing Drum was assembled from rolled steel sections which were carefully aligned and welded to create a cylindrical structure.
The final structure was supported on heavy-duty equipment during fabrication, allowing safe positioning and access for welding operations.

Summary

Projects such as this demonstrate WEC Fabrication’s ability to deliver large-scale, high-quality fabricated components for demanding industrial applications.
